Natalie Imbruglia, oh she of Neighbours, has got a new album in the works. Due for release October 5, it's titled 'Come To Life' and will feature the sort of MOR pop that has seen her sell millions of albums internationally.
While that's all well and good, it's the album's association with Coldplay and Brian Eno that has attracted all the attention. Three of the tracks (including first single, 'Want') were co-written by Coldplay. Brian Eno produced one of the other Coldplay assisted tracks, 'Lukas'.
Say what you will about Chris Martin and Coldplay, they know how to write a hit single. Given Imbruglia hasn't had an album out since 2005's 'Counting Down the Days', her label has obviously opted to bring out the big guns for this comeback.
The 34-year-old Australian singer Natalie Imbruglia has revealed that she experienced a "semi-nervous breakdown" when working with Chris Martin on her new album. She admitted that collaborating with the Coldplay front-man was difficult because of his directness.
Natalie Imbruglia told NME: "When I worked with Chris Martin he was very honest and brutal with me. He helped me with my track-listing and we got rid of riff-raff. Sometimes we agreed, sometimes we disagreed."
Natalie Imbruglia added: "The hard bit is him saying which songs he doesn't like, but it's refreshing to have someone of that caliber with you.” "So yes - I had a semi-nervous breakdown", she admitted.
